"i dig my toes into the sand ... and in this moment i am happy ... i wish you were here"

im going to go in backwards order ... because thats the only order that seems to make sense.

i just got home from the beach. and im so relieved that i never got in trouble. the whole ride home was filled with tension because i should be grounded right now. or maybe yelled at. but for some reason im not.

we were supposed to stay at the holiday in on the way back. we were supposed to get back tomorrow. but chincoteague island wasnt exactly what we thought. we left at about 4 slightly disappointed by the lack of wild horses. i stopped at the coral to take pictures. it was fascinating to see these horses. they were skinny and wild looking. none of them were even remotly groomed and many of them were swollen with pregnancy. new born fillys and foals were wobbling all around their mother's legs while the males were trying to keep their females in order. i got tons of pictures. in some ways i was glad that they rounded them up ... i got excellent up close pictures.

we left north carolina early in the morning after nicole and i said our good-byes to jake and drew, and got pictures. the morning was tense after lastnights incident and i knew that nicole would get it alot worse than what was in store for me.

we were woken up early that morning to finish packing and to get our last glimpses of the beach. nicole and i gasped to eachother about how jake and drew hadnt talked to us sooner because they thought we were with trevor and noah. we actually lost sleep after finding this out.

the night before we snuck back into our room 45 mins late knowing we had been caught and knowing that we were more than likely grounded.

my dad was watching from the deck and nicole and i despiratly hung on to the last moments we would probably be talking to drew and jake. they both looked so good in their swimming shorts and white t-shirts. they both had buzz haircuts that surprisingly looked good. even though drew was the younger of the two brothers he was at least a head taller than jake. he had dark brown eyes and hair and a killer smile.

jake was built, he had blond hair and blue eyes. and these adorable dimples.

they were so nice walking us home that night. we all regretted not actually establishing contact earlier.

we had just finished setting off fireworks in the driveway. we were supposed to be home 5 mins ago. but there was no way nicole and i were letting this oppurtunity slip through our fingers becasue of a few parents with their thumbs up their asses.

i stood pretty close to drew because i was afraid the fireworks would set my hair on fire ... hey if i was going dowm i was bringing someone else with me. .... kidding.

we walked back to the boys house to see the fireworks after fighting our parents for an extension on our curfew. 11 o clock.

we had jsut gotten out of the boys pool when we asked for the extension. we had a water gun fight with the boys which was more fun than i imagined it would be. the pool was really neat looking ... especially at night ... with a neon green light strip outlining it. we had only been given 15 mins to swim with them that night after the first fight with our parents to get a later curfew. at that time it was 10:30

we played pool until about 10:10 with them. their house was so nice. they looked happy to see us when we came by to give them our fireworks. i was raining and we couldnt set them off so we gave them to them.

an hour earlier nicole and i sat watching the rain incredibly disappointed that the rain was ruining our chance to hang out with the boys on our last night.

we had spent the whole day inside making seashell frames ... something we didnt plan on doing.

earlier that day we finally talked to the 2 boys staying at the house down the street from us. we had been eyeing eachother all week but nicole and i were too shy to start a converstaion with them and they thought noah and trevor were our boyfriends. they were so genuinely nice which is hard to find in boys these days.

their family had invited us to come over and swim in their pool a few mins before.

noah and trevor showed up on the beach every day to hang out with us. they were nice but noah was too much of a show off and trevor was from woodstock and quite spacy. everytime we tried to talk to the 2 boys that lived down the street trevor and noah seemed to show up.

the surf was great all week which was definitly a surprise. i caught a few really great waves while surfing ... but i also got a killer wet suit tan. i was the only one that could stand up on the board. now im working on a handstand on the board. :)

a few days earlier we took an intermediate surf lesson. there were no waves so we learned how to paddle ... a lot. the guy giving lessons has a mad crush on my aunt which was ... cute.

the night before while nicole and i were on the beach we met two guys who were also checking out the surf. unlike nicole i had no romantic intentions that week. its so pointless to look for love on vacation. plus i would rather enjoy the beach than worry about my hair and other such girly things. but nicole was totally into the boys and i enjoyed the thought of having someone other than her to hang out with. their names were trevor and noah.

the night before we eyed two boys in the house down the street. they were setting off fireworks as we ate smores. we decided we had to meet them. we ended up spending the whole week eyeing them and not talking to them until the last day.

we got to the beach fairly early. it had rained all day which put a damper on our beach mood. we walked into the house to find that it had been redecorated and the bedrooms had been re arranged. luckily mine and nicole's room got moved into a previous master bedroom. therefore we got our own bathroom.

every year as we pull up it seems a little more crowded. its frustrating to think about how empty it was 7 years ago when we first went there.

the drive down was about 8 hours.
